Rails Rumble 2008
October 10th, 2008
Ubikorp is proud to sponsor the 2008 Rails Rumble!
For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, the Rumble is a yearly 48 hour web application development competition in which competing teams get one weekend to design, develop, and deploy the best web property that they can. Of course, you don’t have to be a Rails developer to participate. As a judge, you get to review some great new (and useful! and fun!) micro applications and determine which teams fare best in a number of categories. So yeah, it’s got something for everyone who loves the web.
We’re big fans of the Rumble and what it symbolizes. It advocates agile processes, getting real, and embracing your constraints. Not only do challenges like this help teams hone their talents, but they also give us a chance to get some new experimental ideas out into the open. In fact, Ubikorp isn’t just providing Rumble prizes, we’re also actively engaged in the development of the registration and voting application infrastructure that powers the event.
This year, the build portion of the event is taking place over the weekend of the 18th and 19th of October. Open voting will begin shortly after development is complete. Make sure to check out the official blog for more information or to get involved.
